I am involved in a dispute with this Inn. This is my latest communication. I agree with Marty my husband said he felt our room which is sold as a suite at 265.00 + tax reminded him of a huanted house.Tricia Pelak

Ms. Whissell,

I have called your place of business twice now and I asked to speak to you. I have read the cancellation policy and our date change is not subject to any penalties. The $40.00 credit you mailed us against a future visit is not acceptable to us.

We were given a $500.00 gift certificate for the holiday of December 2003. We booked our stay the end of 2004 for a stay in June of 2005. Our plans changed so we called with in a few days and made the change from June 10th to May 15, 2005. No mention was ever made about charging us the higher summer rate when we changed our stay to the spring. I am sure if we had changed from spring to summer we would have been charged the summer rate. When we arrived we were charged and additional $144.10 I did question it at the time. When I got to my room I saw that the room charge was $265.00 per night not the $285.00 we were charged. When I asked about this the girl at the desk mumbled something about the price of the room being reduced but since we booked for June we had to pay the June rate. She was clearly nervous and was trying to avoid my questions. When we were leaving and I asked again for the owners name she offered us a credit for merchandise in the Inn. I declined after all I paid with cash and cash was what I expected in return.

Please let me say that we enjoyed our stay .The Inn and the service was great. It baffles me that you would feel the need to knowingly over charge. Surely praise and a recommendation to friends and family would be worth more then the 45.00 dollars.

Please let me know why you refuse to credit us our cash and where in your paper work does it state that changes made months ahead of time are penalized. The Inn is booked solid for the four weekends in June so there was no loss to you.

It's a shame about this place. With all the hype, we couldn't believe the condition it's in. Maybe some people are blinded by its reputation or the over-abundance of knick-knacks or something, but the carpets everywhere are frayed and worn, curtains are old, yellowed and dusty, wood is falling off the walls and ceilings, and paint and wallpaper is peeling. I think there are other places in Cape May that are better maintained at more reasonable prices.
