There were 6 of us, 3 guys and 3 teenage boys. First, we couldn't have the wings outside, then we were told there were different selections of beer indside than outside. We had 200 wings, ate all but 10, and asked to have them wrapped to go. The waitress went to the bartender, who proceeded to go to the back room. He came back and told the waitress NO. I asked to see the owner, who was an older woman. She said that since the wings were a special price, we might take them out and try to sell them on the street for a profit. I kid you not!!! Never went back again, although we are there every year. Too bad, it could be a great place.
Katie (7/18/2007) Warning, do not order a pitcher of water (at least on the deck), they charge you $8 for what obviously is the gross shore tap water. Food is good, but very overpriced, on weekends there are only about 6 things to choose from on the outdoor menu (nothing for children), I recommend eating in the bar, if you go inside to eat you'll notice the same menu selections are all about $2 lower than what was listed outside, and you get double, if not triple the menu options. The wait staff is nice, the managers are miserable.
John (8/19/2005) I have to laugh at the review regarding the rules.
This has been a sticking point (laughable) with our family for a long time. Treat the kids like dirt. Another rule, can't carry your draft beer from the bar into the dining room. The hostess actually came over and told us we would have to leave if this happens again. It's obvious the management is not too bright but customers continue to come so they don't care Jason (8/17/2005) I first went to the Deuville as a child with my uncle and loved it!!!!
Now that I am older, I find that although the location is PERFECT, the current owners have absolutely no idea how to run a business like this at the Jersey Shore. There are several reasons for this: 1.) My wife and I call it the Ruleville Inn, due to the fact that there are so many outrageous rules, such as, you are only aloud to order sandwichs inside the bar, not on the deck. The only food you can get there during the day are the overpriced hambers and hotdogs, and at night, be prepared to spend your life savings on a sub-par, and highly overpriced, dinner menu. 2) Their RUDE comment regarding childrens behavior posted on their table menus is LAUGHABLE! Most parents can parent their children themselves. Should this not occur, warn the parents about the problem. Nothing bothers me more then an establishment that BELIEVES it is the preminent expert on parenting! 3.) We also call it Slowville Inn (being as most of the time it is poorly staffed). 4.) What kind of an establishment at the Jersey Shore closes its outside, bayside bar/dock at 10:30 pm on a Saturday in the middle of the summer!? Its down right moronic!!!!! 5.) WHERES THE MUSIC!!!!!!!!!! Hardly ever a band or guitar player/singer outside, and when there is they are quite poor (with the exception of a 2-man act they had last year-guys with dreadlocks, hippies I would say). 6.) The BEACHOUSE!!!!!! The island music over there is played SO LOW that most times you can't even tell its playing!!!!! Heres a tip owners........LIGHTEN UP AND HAVE SOME FUN!!!!!!!! When I go on vacation I enjoy letting loose, as do most vacationers. As the owners an establishment with such a GREAT location, you have an OBLIGATION to see to it that you are doing everything to each of my MANY trips to the Deauville (and notice I wrote many, because I do still go to grab a beer hoping things will eventually change) a trip to remeber. P.S. I give it 2 stars, but it has the possibility to be not only a 5 star establihment, but quite possibly THE PLACE TO BE at the South Jersey Shore. Tom & Barbara Lasko (6/3/2005) Awesome, great food and service.
