Springtime at the Jersey Shore Are you looking for the perfect getaway, a place where the entire family can go to experience both relaxation and fun? If so, be sure you do not overlook all the possibilities found at the Jersey Shore during the spring. Since most people think of vacation as something you do during the summer time, the spring is often not even a consideration. This is truly a shame, especially when visiting the Jersey Shore where festivals, concerts, conventions, dances, and much more occur every year! To give you an idea of the options you will have this spring when visiting the many charming and fascinating cities of South Jersey, consider the following: Cape May The quaint town of Cape May is actually one of the oldest beachside resorts in the country. Offering a unique history that dates back to the 1600s, this wonderful location stretches 20 miles that includes a panoramic view of the ocean and hundreds of Victorian era homes. Whether looking for a place to stay that provides luxurious accommodations and seclusion for a romantic weekend or more modern hotels where the kids will have easy and quick access to the ocean, in Cape May, you will find it all! Wildwood Crest This community is a bit more laid back, offering a number of things to do throughout the year such as sailing, swimming, and just hanging out on the beach having a barbecue. The location of Wildwood Crest is convenient and the environment very family friendly. Avalon Nestled at the northern portion of the Seven Mile Beach Island, this town extends far out over the ocean, which is where it earned its motto of, “Cooler by a Mile”. During the springtime, you can relax in this beachfront community and feel right at home as you watch colorful sailboats lazily making their way across the water. The massive dunes are just one aspect of Avalon that has made it a popular getaway destination. Sea Isle City Of all the communities in Jersey Short, Seal Isle City is one that is very popular. This resort town is family friendly and provides mile after mile of clean, white sandy beaches. Whether looking for a place to take a leisurely stroll, go for a bike ride, or shop until you drop, the Promenade is the perfect place. For a springtime visit, you will find that Sea Isle City offers some great activities. Strathmere The nice thing about Strathmere is that it is very little commercial, meaning you have the chance to enjoy simplicity at its best. The community of Strathmere is known for the wonderful restaurants, charming, cottage rentals, and the badge-free beaches, which is the norm for most of the Jersey Shore. If you are looking for a place where you can get away from the busy city life, Strathmere offers a solution where you will be undisturbed. Ocean City The white, sandy beaches, fresh salt air, and the smell of caramel popcorn and cotton candy are what bring to mind Ocean City. This community is perfect for families in that you can lounge on the beach and build a sandcastle, take a bike ride on the Boardwalk, or stay at any of the great family resorts or guest homes. Margate This beautiful oceanfront destination is situated on Absecon Island, making it the perfect location for couples and families. The first thing you will notice is the scenery, which will astound you. For visiting during the spring, most people make the short drive to nearby Atlantic City, located less than one mile away. Brigantine Most people get a thrill out of Brigantine for its Pirate lore. If you love getting away but like to be in close enough to the nightlife, then Brigantine is the perfect destination spot. Legend has it that Captain Kidd and Blackbeard both buried treasure on the island of Brigantine although it has yet to be found. The Marine Mammal Stranding Center is a wonderful place to visit where you can see how many of the sea mammals are rescued, nursed back to health, and then returned to their natural habitat. Like Margate, Brigantine is just a short drive to Atlantic City so you will have wonderful activities from which to choose.
