Spend Easter Weekend at the Shore

What do white, sandy beaches, beautiful sunsets, fantastic restaurants, water sports, cultural events, Fine Arts, warm hospitality, and Easter all have in common? The answer is eight charming towns, all tucked away on the northern tip of Cape May County in New Jersey. Although these towns share many characteristics, each offers its own unique rendition of charm and hospitality. Whether you live in New Jersey or plan to travel there during April, you will find any one of these towns to be an ideal location for spending the Easter holiday. Single people, married couples, or parents will all enjoy this gorgeous and historical region.

Ocean City is located in the heart of Jersey Shore and famous for being a quaint seaside community with a two-mile Boardwalk, which is the perfect setting for a spectacular view. Ocean City offers several holiday festivities, starting in the middle of April with the “Woofin Paws Pet” Fashion Show, perfect for the animal lover, and a fantastic Easter Egg Hunt that same day. A day or two later, the entire family can spend a wonderful afternoon at the Music Pier, watching as the Easter Parade passes by.

Avalon is another quaint town, known for their island, which stretches one mile further to the ocean than other neighboring communities, and for being home to the only remaining high dune system on the entire east coast. Avalon also offers locals and visitors alike a fun-filled Easter with Dune Grass Planting toward the end of April and a colorful Easter Egg Hunt. Traveling to North Wildwoods, consider staying at Lillian’s Once Upon a Time Bed and Breakfast. Here you will experience the Victorian era in this Southern-style mansion, while be pampered by the hosts. After settling in, you can head down to the 15th Avenue beach for the annual Easter Egg Hunt and then within days after hunting for tasty eggs, be sure to visit Morey’s Piers to welcome the Easter Bunny. At the Hereford Inlet Lighthouse Gazebo, a touching Resurrection “Son Rise” Service is held. If you prefer, Wildwoods is also the home to many wonderful churches that also offer special services.

Another great option for creating a memorable Easter is a visit to Cape May, which has the distinction of being the oldest seaside resort in the United States. People who love bird watching, eco-tourism, and taking in natural wonders make their way to Cape May for its beauty, incredible attractions, and peaceful setting. When visiting this town, you will have a variety of options for the entire month of April. Starting in the middle of the month, an exciting Easter Egg Hunt is scheduled at Cape May Elementary Fields. Following within days is an unbelievable craft show, featuring some of the local artist’s and artisan’s work, an Easter Fashion Stroll, the Cape May Jazz Festival, the Tulip Festival Golf Tournament, Spring Festival, and Tulip and Garden Weekend. Other communities in the Jersey Shore region include Somers Point, Strathemere, Sea Isle City, and Stone Harbor where you will find the friendliest people around. Instead of sitting at home during the Easter holiday, why not visit New Jersey where you can experience an Easter unlike any other.
