A New Thanksgiving Tradition If you have grown children now living their own lives, relatives in a distant country, or just want to start your own family tradition, why not start by spending your Thanksgiving holiday at the Jersey Shore. Regardless of your situation, spending Thanksgiving in one of the country’s most beautiful hideaways will ensure a memorable experience. Stretched along the shoreline, numerous towns reside, each offering something special. With a heavy emphasis on Victoria architecture, you will feel as though you stepped back in time, and the hospitality offered cannot be matched. No matter which town you prefer to stay in, all of the accommodations are superb. To give you an idea of the choices, consider the Sea Gypsy Bed & Breakfast in Wildwoods. You will be greeted with a warm smile and a majestic staircase as you enter this 1900 Queen Anne Victorian home. The interior is filled with warm, inviting colors and every room provides a unique Victorian style. At sunset, step out on the Verandah and relax in one of the many rocking chairs. With this accommodation located, only blocks from the beach, not only will you enjoy a Victorian parlor and cozy rooms, but convenience. Another option would be to stay historic Cape May. The Duke of Windsor Bed & Breakfast is one choice worth considering. Here you will find a perfect blend of romance and sophistication. Each of the nine rooms and one suite is tastefully decorated with beautiful Victorian antiques, making you feel right at home. The owners will pamper you and strive to make your holiday visit even more special. Both of these locations feature special events during the month of November such as music concerts, fabulous gourmet meals, and shopping at an abundance of specialty shops. As the town’s people prepare for the Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday season, everything seems to come to life. The latter part of November brings a spectacular Holiday Craft Show where top artisans from the Mid-Atlantic region come together in one magnificent show that features handmade gifts and holiday decorations. Other towns that you should visit during your Thanksgiving trip include Avalon, Ocean City, Sea Isle City, Somers Point, Stone Harbor, and Strathmere. Avalon starts their holiday season the first week of November through December with incredible music performed by various local artists such as the Ralph Roberts Band and the Joe Dale Orchestra. Ocean City also offers numerous holiday festivities for the month of November, and is the perfect choice if you have children. The local library sponsors a special event called the Quiet Festival, which is a program, created specially for children in celebrating quiet things. Immediately after Thanksgiving, the children will love having their picture taken with Santa who makes his way to the Music Pier.
Each town creates a special holiday memory, whether living there or simply visiting. With so many wonderful options, plan an extended visit if possible. Other events scheduled around Thanksgiving include the Holiday Preview Weekend that includes folk and jazz genres at the Mid-Atlantic Center of the Arts, the Fall Harvest Festival, the Monarch Butterfly Walk, Manasquan’s Annual Turkey Trot, and much, much more. When it comes time to start a new Thanksgiving tradition for your family, remember Jersey Shore!
